Windows update removes IBM Notes!

Believe it or not! When a friend of mine did an update on his Windows 10 (which took him two hours!!) this message popped up:

m2

Translated from Norwegian:

This app is no longer available. IBM Notes 9.0.1 Social Edition was removed from the PC because it does not function with this version of Windows. Find out more.

In my opinion this is unfair competition, it is censorship and it should be a law against it!

  1. I had that message, but its lying, Notes was not removed and it work perfectly as always. The message comes with the Windows 10 Anniversary update. But appears to do nothing. All parts of Notes work, Sametime, Domino Admin, Domino Designer, Standard client. It works as normal.

      1. I don’t think that Microsoft needs to do anything to give a bad impression of IBM Notes.

  2. Notes 9.0.1 Fix Pack 4 introduces full support for desktop versions of both Windows 10 Pro (32-bit & 64-bit) and Windows 10 Enterprise (32-bit & 64-bit). This includes Notes, iNotes, Domino Designer, and Domino Administrator clients.

  3. I have installed FP5 before Anniversary update, but Windows report about uncompatibility anyway. Then I ran Notes with Windows Application Compatibility troubleshooter, answer some questions, Windows do something in background…and after that Notes open without any warnings.
